How Do All-On-4 Implants Work?

The way treatment works is similar to that of implant-retained dentures, but with a few key differences. For one, the implants are placed at an angle so they more effectively maximize the amount of bone tissue inside of your jaw. This also gives them the strength needed to hold a restoration shortly after they are placed. Once all four implants are surgically placed, we’ll provide a temporary restoration that’s worn until the implants have fully healed. Then, you’ll come back after a few months to have the permanent restoration placed. It’s a great way to keep your smile immediately following your implant surgery.

Am I A Candidate For All-On-4 Implants?

Chances are if you have sufficient bone tissue, good oral and overall health, and no problems with your gum tissue, you are more than likely eligible to receive All-on-4 dental implants. During the consultation phase of your care, we make sure to perform an extremely detailed examination of your mouth and underlying oral structures. This includes X-rays and visual exams both by Dr. Fana and his trusted specialists. They may also perform a cone beam scan to confirm the location of your many nerves and blood vessels, making surgery more predictable. All of these play an important role in determining both your eligibility and treatment plan.

What Are the Benefits of All-On-4 Implants?

All-on-4 dental implants allow you to immediately load a restoration onto your implants the same day they are placed, which means you won’t have to worry about living with an incomplete smile for months on end. Since your restoration is being held in place by dental implants, your prosthetic never shifts out of place or falls out when performing basic tasks, such as eating or speaking. Additionally, you can expect your restoration to last much longer on average compared to more traditional methods of tooth replacement, including dental bridges and dentures. Your diet can be expanded and your bone health is also significantly improved thanks to constant stimulation.

All-On-4 vs. Traditional Dental Implants

While traditional dental implants offer many of the same benefits as All-on-4 treatment, they are actually less convenient because they cannot be provided a restoration until they’ve undergone a long healing process. Furthermore, implant-retained dentures can effectively replace all teeth in the upper or lower arch, but they require more implant posts in the process. In some cases, they can require as many as six or eight implants, which prolongs the surgery phase of care and cost more overall. All-on-4 treatment combines function, efficiency and convenience for many patients, which is precisely why they are so popular.
